Beginner Guide

Here you can find a small breakdown of what you will need to know about oTCGs and what you will need to have/display on your tradepost!

What is a TCG?

Online Trading Card Games are similar to the trading cards you knew as a child. Rather than playing in person and collecting cards from packs at the store, you collect everything online. The goal is to collect all of the cards you like, also know as mastering a deck. Online TCGs are free to play, a lot of fun, and very addictive! Interested in joining? Check out the rest of this section before moving on to the join form!

oTCGs are created by fans for fans. We are all here to have fun, hang out, and collect cute cards! The members' main goal is to collect all of the cards of a deck and master said deck. Members can gain these cards in multiple ways: through trading, through playing games, and through using Hallyu's provided services! The more a member interacts with the site and other members, the more cards they will gain.

To learn more about tcgs, feel free to visit the TCG Wiki page. This gives an archive of many of the previous tcgs as well as ones that are active now. There is also a discord available for the oTCG community, where you can join and have discussions with other members and see what other projects people are working on!

What is a tradepost, and what do I need to have availabe on it?

Before you join, you need a place to hold and display all of your cards, also know as a trade post. To make life easier for you and for your fellow TCG members, you should separate your cards--at least into groups of keeping and trading. You are also required to keep a detailed card log, showing how you got every card. The final thing you need on your site is a way to contact you, either a form or an email link, so you can trade.

Organized Sections for Information/Cards

These sections are essential for keeping an organized tradepost for you and others to view while playing.

  • Member Info/Stats: This is where you will display your info such as your: name, join date, level, card count/worth (there is a difference!), and anything else that you deem important like currency.
  • Collecting: These cards are for decks that you are actively trying to master. Having a deck in this section lets other members know that you prioritize these decks over others on your post.
  • Future/Keeping: These are decks that you plan on mastering later but are lower in priority to collecting decks (but are still accepting cards for them in incoming trades).
  • Trading: These are cards that you do not want to keep and are hoping to trade away to other players for cards do you want.
  • Detailed Logs: Logs are for you to keep a detailed record of how you obtained the cards that you have on your tradepost. There are two types of logs: Activity logs and Trade logs. Your activity logs will track all cards gained through games/services on the site, while trade logs document any and all trades done with other members. You are required to have logs for both.

These categories can be broken down farther into different priorities of future/keeping. If you plan on remastering any of the decks found on the site, feel free to create a section for that too.

Trading Methods

The final component that you need on your trade post is a way to contact you. If you are using eTCG, the script already comes with a built-in trade form, so it will do all of the work for you; the person trading with you just has to input their information information/cards! If eTCG is not an option, there are websites/apps where you can create a form and then embed it on your site for members to fill out. Additionally, you can always send the person you want to trade with an email, Discord DM, or a forum PM if there is no form available/if the form is down!

If are you wanting to modify/fix an already pending trade with another member, please inform the member via DM on Discord or a PM on the forums. DO NOT clog up with trading and pulls thread on Discord!

Site Logs

As a member, you are required to keep a detailed log of any and all materials gained on the site and through trading with others. This includes cards, trades, currency, and merch, which are obtained through various activities and services on the site/forum. There are two types of logs that members need to keep track of on their tradeposts: activity logs and trade logs. While the site does keep a record of your logs, we require you to also keep logs on your tradepost! Keeping your logs as detailed as possible will help you and any staff that have to check your logs for any forum games/activities/events. Make sure that you include the following in your logs:

Activity Logs

  • The date that the game/service was completed on
  • The name of the specific game/service
  • The specific cards/currency/merch received
  • The loss/exchange of specific cards/currency/merch

Trade Logs

  • The date of the trade
  • The name of the member traded with
  • The list of cards/merch you traded out
  • The list of cards/merch you received
